About Old Drove Road Walk

This traditional droving route from Strathrory follows the Balnagown river to the meadows of Scotsburn. Droving is the practice of walking livestock over long distances.

You will pass through wild heather moorland and peaceful oak and pine woods, with glimpses of roe deer, black grouse and a rich variety of birds and wildflowers in summer.

Bring your binoculars and look out for birds of prey in the area it's a great place to spot a Red Kite. If you walk further up the hill, there are panoramic views of the Dornoch Firth too.
